I started learning about the ketogenic diet when I was a clinician dietitian for the VA hospital here in St. Petersburg. Virta Health did a pilot study with Veteran's and I enrolled several of my patients in it. The results were outstanding. I was absolutely shocked at the difference in patient outcomes with the ketogenic diet vs. the ADA's recommendations (specifically those with type 2 diabetes). From there, I learned about its effects on PCOS, and I started implementing it in my own life. Not only was it life-changing for my Veterans, it was absolutely life-changing for me.
