Molly Rutherford, MD, MPH


I first learned about the benefits of a low-carb diet from a friend, who reversed his insulin resistance and cured his chronic neuropathic foot pain by changing to low carb, high fat nutrition. Since then, I have watched several patients improve their health and discontinue medications for various chronic medical problems, including type 2 diabetes, gut problems, and chronic skin issues. My own family has benefited from changing to a low-carb, high fat diet as well. Recently, I wrote an article for the Journal of the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians about our flawed nutritional guidelines, urging more physicians to learn about and recommend low carb, high fat eating. I regularly refer my patients and friends to to help them get started. Thankfully, as a Direct Primary Care physician, I have time to spend with patients, educating them on healthy lifestyle choices, including low-carb nutrition. Helping people lose weight and feel better, without medications, has been very rewarding.
