As a physician who specializes in the treatment of spinal cord injury -- and who also sustained my own spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury from an automobile accident -- I have a passion for using nutrition, especially a ketogenic diet, in those with neurological injuries, neurological diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and pain. I was recently co-investigator on a pilot, randomized, safety and feasibility study evaluating the ketogenic diet for improvement of neurological recovery in individuals with acute spinal cord injury. This is a burgeoning yet very promising area for improved patient health.
