As an interventional pain physician, most of my patients have severe metabolic dysfunction. Metainflammation and the cascade of chronic disease states that emanate from it must be treated simultaneously, as the patient's chronic pain issues. Failing to address the metainflammation results in symptom recurrence. Simply telling a patient to change their lifestyle has no real long-term likelihood of success, most often they have already tried multiple times prior to being seen in our clinics.
